A member asked:

What do you do if a infant is bit by fire ants?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Keep clean/monitor: The fire ant bite is unusual in that the mouth parts contaminate the bite with an acid that tends to leave a sterile pustule.Although it can look bad, it will usually heal well after simple cleaning. Occasionally kids will get pronounced swelling of the whole limb which usually responds to benedryl.Benedryl lotion or cold compresses can help with the itching. Have it checked if it spooks you.
