Should a partial thyroidectomy end the unwanted symptoms of thyroid issues?0

Not necessarily: If your hemithyroidectomy was done to remove a thyroid nodule, the other side will still need to be monitored by an endocrinologist, particularly if it also contains nodules. Thyroid function will likely also be followed.

Depends on the cause: Symptoms of large goiters or nodules are sue to compression. Over 90% of people get relief from compression after surgery. Problems swallowing can have many causes, though. Sometimes tightness in the neck after surgery can feel the same way--try neck massage and range of motion exercises for this. High or low levels of thyroid hormone can also cause persistent symptoms.
