A member asked:

I'm trying to understand fluid retention levels, bpm i think it's called. can someone help (this is about my mom again) she says hers was 280 and is now 150. what does that mean is that good?

BNP?: I think you might mean bnp. This is a test that can give you some idea of how much heart failure ( and related fluid retention ) is going on. However, the role of serial measurement of bnp in heart failure is not yet very solid. 150 sounds better than 280, but there is a lot of variability in the test ( i assume pg/ml) and significance depends on the time interval between the two tests.
