Many factors: Could be sleeping position, mattress (too soft/ too firm), underlying muscle spasm from job (lifting improperly) or home (bending over to lift children), try applying moist heat to the area; use an NSAID (advil/motrin/aleve/etc) for pain & inflammation (take with food). See fp if no improvement or condition worsens suddenly.

Maybe but: Sounds more typical of degenerative changes with symptoms at the end of day from activity and then in am from no activity with early day activity making it feel better but with more duration of these activities , the cycle repeats.
