Yes: A swollen lymph node can be painful and tender. The duration of its presence will depend upon the cause of its being enlarged. Lymph nodes are part of our immune system and usually enlarged acutely in the presence of local infection or non-infectious inflammation. If this persists have it examined by a doctor.
