Viral infection: Atypical lymphocytes are more likely from a viral infection, rather than hormonal changes. A few atypical lymphs alone are not a worrisome finding. If you do not have any symptoms, there may be no need for immediate follow-up. Your doctor may repeat the test at the next visit.
