Multinodular?: Single nodule (a lump) vs multinodular (multiple lumps) thyroid? If you and/or your physician can feel the "lumps" you will likely be asked to get some blood test and an ultrasound to see what these look like. Fortunately, many of the nodules are benign(not cancerous), but some could be. So, depending on the finding, you may need a thyroid scan and possibly a biopsy etc..Consult doc. Good luck.

A goiter: 50% of 50 yr olds have thyroid lumps. 30% are found by the patient, 30% are found on examination, and 40% are incidentally found on X-rays of various types. 5% of thyroid nodules contain cancer.
