Most OTC cold meds: Over-the-counter medicines for colds are ok while breastfeeding, as long as one follows the labels' instructions, stays below maximum doses, and is not using more than one medicine of each type. Fever/pain reducers include tylenol, (acetaminophen) motrin. Cough meds include Robitussin (some people use dm, some avoid it). Decongestant/antihistamine include claritin-d, zyrtec-d, Benadryl +/- phenylephrine, sudafed.

Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and others: Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is a prescribed medication & helps if started within the first 48hrs of sx. It is considered safe for breast feeding. Most of the other otc meds have little to offer & those containing antihistamines can reduce milk volume.Ibuprofen and acetomenophen are also quite safe for breast feeding.
