My 92 yr old aunt is in a nursing home should she get her flu shot early? sometimes the nursing home is so slow at giving out the shot.

Sooner the better: The vaccine has been available through my office for 8 weeks & my staff & i were immunized immediately. There is ample reason to get it as soon as it is available.

Early is better.: It takes about two weeks for the body to build up flu antibodies after Influenza vaccination. Influenza activity peaks in January/ February in the Northern Hemisphere. It is best to be protected through out influenza season. So, yes - early is good.
