THYROID EXHAUSTION: You can expect not to feel yourself, particularly energy wise, until and after the supplement being used to replace your thyroid is enough and plenty, and has been in your system for several weeks. Every patient is different but it may take months before you start feeling yourself.

Ask your surgeon: You asked the question about cancer. By now you should know if you were treated for thyroid cancer or not. If you don't know, you need to ask your surgeon. I'm guessing you don't, since you were placed on synthroid (thyroxine). Levels aren't usually checked for about 6 weeks. It takes quite a while for the level to drop after surgery, and quite a while for the level to stabilize on a new dose
