No specific age : My personal choice would be to wait until they were teens & decide they want it. The reality is most mom's hate calling their little girl a boy & want it done early. It gets tiring trying to keep a bow stuck in their hair. If asked, i advise moms to wait until a couple weeks after their first tetanus shot. I can't site specific data but it makes me feel better to have that done first.
