A member asked:

Is it possible to prevent getting a keloid from a new piercing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Keloids: If you or someone close in your family has a history of keloids you should avoid any activities that could damage your skin, including piercings and tatoos. I would even caution against any elective surgery (not medically necessary). Once keloids appear, they can be very difficult to treat so the best course of action is to avoid them!
