Rarely: Lung cancer is a silent disease. Symptoms such as coughing out blood, shortness of breath, weight loss or pain are usually late and signify advanced disease. Chest x-ray and ct can detect lung cancer in earlier stages.

Information: Two basic types, small cell and non- small cell. Best treated if found early, which usually means found when looking for something else. If possible, best treated with surgical resection. If not, can be treated with radiation and /or chemotherapy. Newer treatments are generally aimed at patients not considered good surgical candidates. Most common cause: smoking.
