A member asked:

Is it abnormal for my 9-year-old daughter to make sounds when she is not talking?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: She may have what is called a "vocal tic." tics are involuntary movements of some sort. They may involve unusual movements of the face or body, and sometimes they involve the voice. Mention it to your pediatrician next time you are in the office. If the noises are interfering with her life or getting her in trouble at school, call you pediatrician soon.
