??Why??: Apnea monitors are in common use when dealing with the condition "apnea of prematurity" which is linked to immaturity of the respiratory center of the premi. It is used to gauge the success various meds used with the issue & withdrawn after the problem subsides.Monitors have not be shown to alter the frequency of crib death or other unrelated issues. Discuss with your case with your physician.
