Abuse...: Does not discriminate..Abused children can be male, female, rich, poor, white, non-white, english speaking, non-english speaking. Abuse crosses all the economic, social, class and ethnic lines.

Dr. Berman said it : well. For parental, family & child characteristics that increase the risk of abuse, see http://www.childmatters.org.nz/57/learn-about-child-abuse/risk-factors. Neglect is the most common reported type of Child Maltreatment, followed by physical, sexual & psychological abuse. Psychological is probably really the most common, but hard to prove. A child with a disability is very vulnerable to abuse.
