Phone First: Most breast centers interpret mammograms within 24 hours after they are completed & will send a report to the dr's office asap; if you shop around, you will find some that guarantee a result before you leave. Every office has a different policy for communicating results--clarify before the test what your doctor's policy is. I encourage my patients to call my office rather than wait for a call.

Mammo results: The legal requirement of the Mammography Quality Standards Act(MQSA) is that you receive a results letter within 30 days. Most often patients will hear from their doctor much sooner. If you are very worried, call your doctors office for results. Typically the report should be available within a couple of days.
