A member asked:

I'm 36 and get weird sensations in my breast. it doesn't hurt and goes away on its own. what age should i get mammogram i keep hearing early detection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hormone effect: Early detection of breast pathology is important and the best way to follow thru is with mammo. Prior to age 35 the breast is sensitive to RT and too dense to get good films so physical exam and sono are employed. After age 35 one good mammo should suffice and if no pathology seen, physical every year with next mammo at age 40. Monthly self exams are important.
