Infections: Joint replacement infections occur at an infrequent but established rate in all hospitals between 0.5% -2%. Acute infections get surgical opening and washouts and bearing changes with 6 weeks of IV antibiotics then oral antibiotics. Common bacteria is staph aureous and streptococcus.
