Yes: Early on lung cancer can be completely asymptomatic. In fact early tumors may be found incidentally on chest xrays or ct scans.

New data from the national lung screening trial, suggests that for high risk patients (heavy current or former smokers, age 55-74) lung cancer screening with low dose chest ct may reduce death from lung cancer.

Unfortunately: That's why most lung cancers are caught so late...there are no symptoms until they are large and have already spread.
