What color is the lung with cancer ?

Variegated: A small tumor is usually tan in color. With growth, there is usually necrosis and hemorrhage in the lesion that produces a whole range of colors like, yellow, brown, reddish, black. The color of the rest of the lung depends on the amount of soot deposition in the parenchyma.

Variable: Tumors within the body have a completely different color than when they have been fixed and processed for pathology interpretation. Many times the lung is dark or mottled and black, but this can be due to smoking or other pigments. Tumors are usually yellow-tan-white to pink or hemorrhage. They are hard with dense scarring in many cases.
