Careful exam: Nf refers to neurofibromatosis. Type one is most common with cafe au lait spots, freckling and benign neuromas. Serious complications may develop with epilepsy, retardation, brain tumors, systemic tumors. Type two involves tumors of the ear nerves. It is highly genetic, and nf1 gene assay is easy to obtain.

Support: Neurofibromatosis involves nerve tissue neurofibromas that are usually benign but can compress and disturb other tissues. Optic tumors gliiomas can occur. Seizures if present need medication. Meningiomas can occur. Nf2 involves hearing loss and bilateral acoustic neuromas, increased incidence of meningiomas and ependymomas. Sometimes surgery and mostly support by neurologists and support groups.
