Psychotherapy: A good psychotherapist can help you examine the behaviors that lead up to the guilty feelings. Some guilt is appropriate and should signal you to change the behaviors that are causing it. Other guilt is due to distorted thinking and really inappropriate, this type of guilt is best treated with cognitive changes. A therapist can be helpful in distinguishing between the two and making changes.
