Yes: Just like other animals we have an amygdala that is tasked with scanning the environment for danger. Sensations that come from our eyes, ears and other sensory organs are processed through the thalamus and then to areas of our higher brain (association cortex) that can allow us to respond to threats (anxiety) even before we are consciously aware of the risk.

Anxiety: Great response by dr. Reynolds. Your body may express anxiety for you if you are not consciously aware of it. You could have tension in your jaw or neck muscles. You could have a butterfly sensation in your gut or nausea. You might develop a tension or migraine headache. If you are asthmatic - you could wheeze. You might have loose stools. You breathing quickly or develop a tight chest.
