What is librium used for?

Alcohol dependence +: This is a benzodiazepine, the same class as xanax (alprazolam) and valium, two drugs more commonly heard of on the street. Physicians have used this particular drug for many years to help ease withdrawal from alcohol abuse / dependence. It has a long half life, meaning it's effect lasts for a prolonged time in the body which makes it useful for preventing withdrawal. It may be used for simple anxiety as well.
