Bulging discs: Can certainly cause tingling. You should see an orthopedist or neurologist. There are other causes of neuropathy or numbness i.E like diabetes. If one is stressed this could raise blood sugar levels and in return make the neuropathy worse. I am unsure if stress would cause increased tingling if the numbness was directly related to the bulging disc.

A bulging L5/S1 disc: Can cause pressure on the nerve root resulting in symptoms such as tingling all or part of the way down the leg to the foot. Stress is much less likely to be the cause.

Nerve compression: Disc bulge can cause nerve compression as it narrows down the opening from where the nerve is coming out. Also stress, position and wether changes can all aggravate the symptoms.
