Depends: On type of surgery, bleeding tendencies, drugs you're on. Can also be due undetected disrupted vessel at the timeofsurgery, or to failure of technique used to achieve hemostasis( stopping of bleeding).

Not usually: After most operations, there is minimal or no bleeding. Depending on the kind of wound you have, you may experience small amounts of bleeding for a short time afterwards. If you are still having bleeding and it has been several days, call your doctor.
