Uncertainty, anxiety: "older" people may share many of the uncertainties and anxieties of younger people, plus they also know how relationships can go painfully wrong. They may have fears about their own attractiveness and desirability; may also doubt their ability to sexually satisfy their new partner. And yet, romance between mature people can be sweet and tender. Very different from movie star exploits. :-).
