A member asked:

What happens during head-up tilt test for fainting?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reflex response...: The heart has fibers that sense strength and speed of contraction. When stimulated by "fight or flight" response, or pooling of blood in the legs during tilt table testing, it sends a message to the brain. The brain sends a message back to the heart telling it to settle down through the vagas nerve, much like a shock absorber. The response is exaggerated and the BP and hr drop, so you pass out.
