Good and bad: Not an expert, but my opinion is that: video games have positive points such as improved coordination, problem solving skills and memory development. The problem with abuse and/or age inappropriate games is that it exposes kids to subjects and imagery that may deform their perception of reality. Also, playing too much prevents kids from engaging in more normal social and physical activities.

They " tune out": The american academy of pediatrics recommends limiting media/ technology time to a maximum of two hours a day ( none before age 2). This is to promote physical activity, to reduce the chance of obesity. Also, it's to promote children's mental and social activities through interactive, imaginitive play, thus improving problem-solving abilities, language and social skills.
