Pressure: There exist magnetic earrings which apply gentle pressure to the front and back of the earlobe. These are usually used after removal of a significant scar or keloid that occurred as a result of a piercing. Applying this amount of continuous, gentle pressure to the area will significantly decrease the chances that an unsightly scar or keloid will form.

Ring in place or no?: It depends on whether the ring is in place and ifmyounmaynhave an allergyntomone of the components of the piercing material. If it is in place, wound care with frequent cleansings and a sterile moist covering will promote rapid healing with minimal scarring. If allergic, scarring may be unavoidable. Steroids/silicone may help.
