Over the counter uti medicine just doesn't work. the only time it ever helps is if i go to the hospital. i do not have health insurance. suggestions?

You really do: need to be on appropriate antibiotics if you have an urinary tract infection. I would not want to recommend something to you that wouldn't be helpful. Take care.

OTC uti: Most OTC uti medications help limit symptoms but do not treat the infection. Increased fluids and cranberry products can help eliminate some infections. If not resolving in 3 days they will need an antibiotic.

UTI: So you are having repeated UTIs? For prevention, do the following: Drink 4oz/day of cranberry or blueberry juice, Drink lots of water, wear cotton underwear only, wipe front to back,after sex urinate soon, cut caffeine/alcohol. If you have a UTI, some pharmacists can actually prescribe an antibiotic but seeing a physician is best. There are minimally expensive clinics in most areas.
