Complete blockade: Some people don't tolerate withdrawal of tapazole as their thyroid can relapse and become hyperthyroid again. By adding synthroid (thyroxine) to the treatment, tapazole can do its job blocking the thyroid and synthroid (thyroxine) will keep a patient from becoming hypothyroid on tapazole treatment.
