BSE goals: A "lump" can have a lot of variations but most concerning are ones that are firm/hard and fixed (attached to the muscle and/or skin). The real goal of self exam is not for a patient to make a diagnosis but to become familiar with their body/breasts. Then if something feels different or draws attention they can seek further evaluation from a physician particularly if the change persists.

Bumpy: Most breasts have bumps and lumps. Make a MAP of them so when you see a dr you can ask about them.
