Multiple ???: Serveral question here. Cavities are holes that form in the teeth do to bacteria feeding off of sugar, releasing enzymes causing the cavities. Gum ulcers are heretic lesions, these are a virus that are dormant on the nervres. They get stimulated and develope as a ulcer on the gum. It is in the chicken pox family. Cavities?: Not sure what exactly you are asking. Cavities are nothing more than "holes" in teeth. Deep cavities can lead to needing a root canal on the tooth. Gum ulcers are just worn away patches of gum tissue with various causes. Scaling of the teeth is a procedure done to treat gum disease caused by plaque and tartar buildup.

Cavities are hoes in teeth caused by bacterial infection. Gum ulcers usually caused by viral infection. In either situation, evaluation by Dentist is required to diagnose and provide appropriate Rx.
