Corneal breakdown: Keratitis is the general term for anything which causes the surface of the cornea (the window in front of the eye) to breakdown. The causes are many and include dryness, infection and congenital defects of the cornea. Keratitis is usually painful, causes eye redness, and disturbs the vision. See your ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment.
