Brush more: Believe it or not your gums are more likely swollen because of inflammation. If you have inflammation then you have debris in the gums around your teeth and need to brush and floss more. If you are concerned about the tooth paste, initially don't use any and see if it goes away, then start using it again. It should only take a couple days to resolve.

Hopefully : That is all it was. Use a less harsh toothpaste, make sure it is not cinnamon flavored, and use warm salt water (1 tablespoon of salt in 8 ounces of water) 3-4 times a day. If it does not resolve within 10 days - see a periodontist!

See Dentist: A simple fix for swollen or irritates gums is a salt-water rinse or the use of listerine. I would definitely see your dentist, however, to rule out the possibility of gum infection or periodontal disease.

Oral rinses: The first thought is to do nothing as brushing make make it bleed, but that will only make the situation worse. Use a extra soft toothbrush with a gentle massaging motion, and rinse with warm salt water to sooth the area.
