Some possibilities..: A "knot" in the middle of the ribs area can be different things to different people. Knots in children are less worrisome; in adults there is a worry about cancer because an adult has lived "long enough" to develop certain cancers. Firm knots (in cartilage/bone) can be costochondritis, which does hurt. Softer knots may be in the skin (cysts, infections, skin tumors). A primary doctor can examine.

Agree with Dr. K: What you described is not an ulcer. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests.
