Money, addiction: Our biology makes us want to crave certain drugs which enhance experience, diminish stress or simply blot out our troubles. Suppliers of drugs take advantage of these needs by selling drugs, getting people 'hooked', and controlling this market. Drug use would diminish substantially if there were no profit.
