Hygeine/proper fit: Wear proper fitting shoes that will not put excessive pressure on toenails. Avoid trauma. Change socks regularly. Let feet air out when possible. Dry feet thoroughly after bathing. Maintenance with a light amount of powder in shoes as well as a topical anti-fungal cream may also be helpful.
