A member asked:

How do eye docs look for an infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Observation: There are a complex of symptoms suggestive of infection including, pain, redness, discharge and vision changes. The eye will be examined with a slit lamp - a high powered microscope to observe the front of the eye to look for the signs of infection. It is generally an easy diagnosis although the particular organism might need investigation -cultures, etc.
