Who should i see to determine whether i have neuropathy or ischemia?

Family Or Vascular: A good history taken by your family doctor alone is probably going to lead you to the right diagnosis about 80% of the time. Neuropathic pain is usually burning in both lower extremities and is commonly seen in diabetics. Peripheral arterial disease is more common in smokers and these patients do not have palpable pulses in feet. Measuring the circulation in the legs will help make the diagnosis.

Neurologist : Neurologist will determine if clinically your problem fits into peripheral neuropathy. In addition the nerve conduction study and doppler test of your blood vessels will definitely confirm the right diagnosis and exclude the wrong.
