Is scar revision effective for facial scars?

Scar revision: Scars can be improved by revision. They cannot be made to disappear altogether. You need to have an exam to determine the amount of improvement you can expect.

Yes: Depending on the location and quality of the scar, there are a variety of techniques to improve the appearance of a scar. Once present, a scar will always exist, but treatment can usually improve it. Options include dermabrasion, laser treatments, scar revision, etc. Seek a consultation with a qualified facial plastic surgeon and they will be able to determine a plan of care for you.

Yes: Scar revision can be effective for facial scars and can consist of simple excision and layered closure for wider scars or use of techniques such as a "Z" plasty or geometric broken line closure to make scars less noticeable. If the scar is raised then microderm abrasion can be effective. Consult your facial plastic surgeon for options.
