Variety: Check for the kidney funciton and how much of protien you are losing in the urine. Dilate the eyes and check the retina and make sure there is no bleeding. Check the sensation in the feet and legs and make sure that ther nerves are still functioning.

Complicated: Diabetic complications are really complicated. It can affect many organs and systems, majorly cardiovascular system, including heart and vessel, neurologic system, urinary tract, etc.. So the doctor will order different test according to patient's clinical presentation.
