I have asthma, and a simple cold has me coughing at nite should i give myself a breathing treatment?

Yes!: You may start the asthma action plan by using a "rescue" breathing treatment like albuterol. If the breathing is still labored you will start the maintenanc meds like budensonide-pulmicort every am and pm and offer more frequent albuterol treatments. If worsens-see your doctor.

Yes: You can try a treatment and see if it works. If it does - great. If it doesn't then the cough may simply be due to mucous drainage in you throat and a decongestant and expectorant may help (depending on you age - less than 4 yo - no).
