Mammogram first: The first step is an exam by your doctor and a mammogram to rule out life threatening problems. If in fact you do have only fibrocystic breast disease there are a variety of options. Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Motrin can help some. Vitamin e supplements may help. Primrose oil has been reported to help. Birth control pills can help too to normalize hormone levels.

Try conservative: First be sure you've had a thorough exam including imaging to rule out pathology. Then try support bra 24/7, motrin, and although data to support, caffeine reduction, evening primrose oil, and vitamin e might (50/50) help. If still no relief, low dose tamoxifen (10 mg daily) has been shown to be effective. Tamoxifen treatment should be under direction of doctor.
