CT cisternogram: During this procedure, contrast is introduced into the lumbar spine, the head is tipped downwards and images are obtained at right away and at 1 hour. I would imagine that some sort of pain medicine and/or relaxant like versed could be given, but you should clarify with the doctor and radiology techs beforehand to see how things are done in your particular facility.

Talk to your: Doctor. If you feel that you need some medication for anxiolysis and it isn't the standard of care where this will be done, ask your doctor to prescribe some medication like Ativan (lorazepam) to take beforehand.
