It is possible.: Zoloft (sertraline) can be very effective in a variety of mood disorders (including sometimes as 1 rx in a med regimen treating someone w/ bipolar tendencies)& anxiety conditions. But it must be carefully rx'd, used & monitored because any ssri can incite/amplify mania. In other words, it can make the bipolar worse. It's a fine line to use psychoactive meds effectively, & requires expert md plus close follow-up.

Zoloft (sertraline): General rule is to stabilize moods with mood stabilizers/antipsychotics before cautiously starting or adjusting the antidepressants. Some antidepressants are less likely to induce mania than others.

Yes: Antidepressants, also known as mood elevators can elevate a person's mood. If a person has bipolar d/o- antidepressants like zoloft (sertraline) can cause a person to 'cycle' into a manic or hypomanic episodes. This is why some studies show that certain folks with bipolar d/o do best in the long run by staying off antidepressants, or only using them on a temporary basis. Also, too high a dose can agitate.
