Physical therapy and medication: First, you should find out why you have sciatica. I would recommend seeing an orthopedic spinal specialist. Have a formal examination, MRI study. At this point physical therapy and pain management is warranted. Surgery should be a last resort.

Several things: Time is the biggest healer. Good life style choices such as not smoking, exercise and weight control can make a difference as well as the use of activity modifications like avoiding prolonged sitting and standing as well as using over the counter remedies like advil (ibuprofen) if no contraindications. If symptoms persist, see your doctor especially if any bowel or bladder issues.

Core Exercises: Typically core strengthening exercises are the best to help relieve pressure and forces in the spine. I would try and google some or look them up on youtube to see descriptions. If you can do them yourself, wonderful otherwise ask your doctor to get a referral to a good physical therapist for further assistance. Alternatively epidural steroid injections and stem cell therapies can help.
