Ketamine coma helps to "reset the nervous system". is there ways to do this without ketamine?

Pediatric Neurology 49 years experience
Animals only: Ketamine causes major psychological reaction when the patient tries to wake up. We try not to use it in people anymore. It is good with animals who do not react the same way. The brain resets itself if given time and good support. Medication for "coma" is used to keep the patient stable during the recovery process.
